SECONDARY EXTERNAL EXAMS
IGCSE and Alternative External Exams 2022
Since 2017 we have been working with the Universidad de San Andrés (UDESA) in the subjects of Mathematics and Spanish, with the aim of providing a better experience and preparation for the IB syllabus. In regards to the IGCSE, we chose to maintain the Cambridge IGCSE English as a First Language exam.
In 2022, students were able to sit for both the Udesa and IGCSE exams. Going through the experience of external written exams was very positive for the students.
In IGCSE, 84% of students achieved passing grades (*A-C), and 33% of students achieved top marks (A*-A). In this opportunity we want to congratulate the following students for having obtained the maximum grade (A*) in IGCSE English as a First Language: Martina Bresciani, Agustin Canitrot, Sophie Cibils Lanusse, Tobias de Elizalde, Victoria Fagalde, Marco Gagliardi, Sol Gerino, Manuela Gonzalez Tredicce, Sofia Meighorner, Alegra Pando, Sofia Reed, Emilie Russell, Emma Wilson. And these two students have achieved A* in IGCSE Mathematics: Nicolás Burstein y José María Cagliolo Macagni.
IB Results November 2022
Last year, after two non-regular academic years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, our students of Y12 were able to sit for exams in normal conditions, which was such an enormous challenge.
Looking at the results, we are able to share that 83% of students who entered for the IB Diploma passed, which is a maintained good result after the 82% average pass rate in the previous year.
The table below shows the number of students achieving 24+, 30+, 35+, and 40+ points or more in the IB Diploma. To give some context, 24 points are required to pass the IB Diploma, 36 points are considered an excellent score (enough to apply for places in Ivy League Universities and Oxbridge in the UK), and 40 points or more is outstanding.
Number of students achieving IB Diploma distributed by points scored:
The table shows a similar number of students scoring 35 points or more (20 students), the same can be said for 40 points and above (4 students). Also, 99 students passed the Diploma (out of 119 entered) which is very similar to our top mark of 2019. These results are very positive and suggest a good performance by students and staff, particularly when looking at the number of students achieving top grades and considering that more students were entered for the full Diploma.
In this opportunity we would like to celebrate and congratulate Maia Burstein, Zoe Lubrano, Guadalupe de la Cuesta and Felix Porcel, who obtained 42 points.
If we compare with recent results, we can observe that SASS performance in 2022 is very positive, as can be seen in the following graphs.

Beyond the good outcomes achieved in this exam session it should also be noted that students and staff overcame many challenges in assuming the logistics of these exams after two hard years of remote classes, hybrid classes, bubbles, and isolation.
