In 2021 the 5-year-olds worked on The Service Station unit.
The idea started with a teacher saying that on her way to school her car ran out of petrol and the group had to guess what she had done. The children were so excited about their teacher's adventure that they proposed making their own Service Station at school. They investigated the different things there are in service stations and what that can be done there. They brainstormed different names and logos to make their own Station logo and chose a name for it. Then they each painted the Service Station logo, the name of the station, and their own name on a t-shirt!
As part of the unit, two YPF workers visited us and answered all the questions and doubts we had. It was so interesting to hear them and we learnt so many new things!
To end the unit, the children brought their own buckets and sponges and washed their teachers’ cars. They also built their own station with all the things they had brought from home and the ones they had prepared at school. What fun they had and how they learnt to work as a team in a collaborative way!
