As part of our unit called Plants and Animals that live in the Campus, the K4 children worked on different activities.
As a starting point, they were asked which animals and plants they thought lived there. In order to learn more, the children took part of a wonderful journey around the Campus. They prepared binoculars which they painted in camouflage colours and were asked to come dressed up as explorers. It was fascinating to see them with lovely outfits and tools such as magnifying glasses, torches etc. On their way, they saw owls and their deep nests, horneros, caranchos, tadpoles and ducks swimming in the pond and a wide variety of flowers and trees.
To deepen their understanding, the different groups investigated what they had seen. A group was involved in walking and observing the trash that was thrown around which could affect animals. They were so enthused about the amount of garbage, papers, plastic bags they collected that they made a maquette and wrote things such as Let's Take Care of our Campus, Animals eat Garbage and get Sick, and so forth.
Apart from learning new things, they learnt how to take care of our environment and the place we attend every day!
