In the book Not a Stick, Antoinette Portis invites us to create game scenarios using non-traditional toys. The stick in the story turns into a sword, a fishing cane, weights, an arrow, and a horse, among other things.
After reading we invited the children to go around the Campus collecting sticks which were put in a "magic bag". The next time we opened the bag, the sticks had transformed into horses. Another day there were sticks with ribbons to dance with. In the final activity, they decorated the original sticks to take home with them.
